Lasciò Ceccano, anzi la Cardegna, quasi 60 anni fa, per dare un futuro alle figlie, per farle lavorare e studiare in quella prosperosa ma freddissima terra di Penn, lassù al confine con il Canada, dove il lago Erie ghiaccia e le sue onde diventano tanti cristalli. Ora è partita di nuovo per la vera patria di ciascuno di noi: la sua vita non è tolta ma trasformata come dice il prefazio dei defunti.

Giuseppa “Josephine” D’ Annibale, age 84, of Erie, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital. She was born December 9, 1927, in Ceccano, Italy, a daughter of the late Pietro and Maria Stacconi Pizzuti. Giuseppa was a member of Holy Rosary Church. She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting, but most of all, she was very caring about her family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Nicola “Nick” D’Annibale, on July 10, 2006 and a brother, Giacinto Pizzuti. Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Cipriani and her husband Domenico of Erie and a daughter, Nancy Dahlkemper and her husband, Joseph B. of Marco Island, Florida and Peek’ n Peak, New York; a sister Rosa Lima and a sister-in-law Giuseppina Pizzuti both of Italy. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Friends may call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St. Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services there on Friday at 9:20 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment in Calvary Mausoleum Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice .
